Sweet Treats for Santa
Every year children set out chocolate chip cookies for the annual arrival of Santa Clause, but why not switch up Santas nightly snack? There are popular sweets for family holidays and there are also unique snacks that many families have yet to make. The possibilities are endless. Here are a few unique recipes families can make for their families or for the world’s special guest, Santa Clause.
Sugar Cookie Recipe
Ingredients; 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, 1 cup butter softened, 1 1/2 cups white sugar, 1 egg, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
Step 1) Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
Step 2) In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Step 3) Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Let stand on cookie sheet two minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.
Gingerbread Fudge
Ingredients; ¼ cup Unsalted Butter, 1 cup sweetened condensed milk, ¼ cup molasses, ¾ cup brown sugar, 2 cups good quality white chocolate, ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon ground ginger, ½ teaspoon ground ginger, ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg, ¼ teaspoon ground cloves.
Step 1)Grease an 8-inch square baking tin and line with baking parchment paper. Add the butter, condensed milk, molasses, and brown sugar in a medium saucepan on low heat. Stir until combined and the sugar is dissolved.
Step 2) Turn the heat up to medium and continue to stir until the mixture is simmering and starting to thicken. Remove the caramel mixture from the heat and stir in the white chocolate, vanilla, and spices. Return to the heat until all is combined.
Step 3) Pour the fudge into the prepared pan. Smooth top and place in a cold area, ( Fridge or outside room), for 3-4 hours or overnight. Gently remove from the pan and cut into small squares and serve.
Peppermint oreo balls
Ingredients: 6 candy canes finely chopped/ broken up and divided, 1 package of 8 oz brick cream cheese softened, 36 oreo cookies finely crushed, 4 packages of 4 oz of semi-sweet baking chocolate melted.
Step 1) Set 1 tablespoon of crushed up candy cane aside. Use the rest of the crushed up candy cane to mix with the block of cream cheese and crushed oreo cookies. Blend it together.
Step 2) After the mix is blended well, begin shaping portions of the mixture into 1 inch balls. Freeze for 10 minutes.
Step 3) Put each individual ball in the melted semi-sweet chocolate so they are fully covered. Keeping them on wax paper works best.
Step 4) Sprinkle the leftover crushed candy cane over the oreo balls. Once this is complete, set them in the freezer for 1 hour.
Red velvet Yule Log
Ingredients: 6 eggs, 1 package of 2 layer sized red velvet cake mix, ½ cup water, ¼ cup oil, 2 packages of 3.4 oz of jello cheesecake flavored instant pudding, 1-¼ cup milk, 1 tub (8 0z) of cool whip, 1 package of 8 oz cream cheese softened, ¼ cup sugar, ½ cup bakers angel flake coconut
Step 1) Heat the oven to 350 degrees F. lay out a large piece of waxed paper on top of a clean kitchen towel. Spray a 15×10 inch pan with cooking spray. Line it with parchment paper, spray it again with cooking spray, and evenly spread flour on it.
Step 2) Beat the eggs in a large bowl on high for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, add cake mix, water, and oil. Beat the mixture on medium for 1 minute.
Step 3) Pour 3-½ cups of the batter into the pans. Put the remaining batter into a cupcake pan for cupcakes. Cook the cake and cupcakes for 15 minutes.
Step 4) Put the cake onto the clean kitchen towel and slowly speel the cake out of the pan. Peel the parchment paper off of the cake once the cake is out of the pan. Be careful not to break the cake! Roll up the cake into the towel and put it in the fridge until cooled.
Step 5) Beat the pudding mix and milk into a bowl and whisk for 2 minutes. Stir one cup of cool whip into the mix. Unroll the cake and spread the filling onto the cake evenly. Roll the cake back up tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Step 6) Mix cream cheese, remaining cool whip, and sugar into a bowl. Unwrap the cake from the plastic wrap and frost the cake with the cream cheese mixture. Then sprinkle the coconut onto it and refrigerate for 15 minutes.

The recipes are all super easy to do and only take a couple of hours to complete. Having many holiday traditions, families are able to add more every year and continue to spread holiday cheer.
