Kicking Off College Signings

With graduation right around the corner, Wilton seniors are thinking about what they want to do after high school. Some options are to go to college, attend a trade school, or maybe even go into the military. But Emmy Drake has already decided where she will be attending college, and better yet, the sport she will be playing as well. Drake will be attending Central College to study political science and has just signed to be a part of their women’s soccer team. This is a big deal because some seniors don’t have a plan of what they are going to do after high school, but Drake does. Drake was asked some questions to get some insight into what is to come her way. The first question was, “Do you think playing a sport will affect your academic performance?” Drake responded, “No because 50% of the students at central play sports and are encouraged to keep their grades up so they can play their sport. Also, all of our classes end at 3 pm for practice. We are also only allowed to miss 6 classes for games.” Drake was asked how long her soccer season will be, “Our soccer season starts in August and goes until November.” Drake was then asked why she decided to go to Central and why she committed to playing soccer there. She responded, “I really liked the girls on the team making me feel at home and the friendly community I was surrounded by.” It is crazy to think in less than a year, one of our very own Wilton Beavers will be playing on a college sports team. We are all proud of Emmy for her accomplishments and wish her good luck, but deep down, she will always be a Wilton Beaver.
