Almost, Maine is the theatrical production that the Wilton Jr/Sr High School students will be performing this year. Almost, Maine is a romantic comedy. Each scene tells a different story involving different characters about their Friday night in Maine. The students have put in a lot of effort to put on a good show. However, things are looking a bit different this year with COVID-19 restrictions.

Iowa’s governor, Kim Reynolds, gave a press conference last week mandating that high school sports and activities have limited spectators. Each participant in the event is limited to two spectators; this means that only close friends and family are allowed to see the performance live.

If you happen to be one of the lucky spectators, you must be masked and socially distanced. The live performances will be on Thursday, November 19th, and Friday, November 20th. The show starts at 7 PM so, make sure you get there in a punctual manner. It is $4 for students and $5 for adults.

Play director, Nicole Miller, is trying to make the best of the situation. She is aware that many people will not be able to be there so, she sent a mass email to the school asking for students to submit pictures of themselves. These pictures will be printed and placed in seats to give the cast a slight sense of an audience. Students and cast members will even have fictional characters and celebrities in the audience. Characters such as Shrek, Batman, and Joe Biden’s dog have been requested.

If you can’t make it to the production, don’t worry. There will be a camera that will capture the whole performance and that CD will be available for purchase. The prices of the CD are to be determined.

Good luck to all cast members and stage crew! As always, break a leg!
