Girls In Blue

Girls+In+Blue

As the basketball girls officially start their season, they beat the Indians 55-34 in their first game on Tuesday, December 1st, at Camanche High School. Their second game was a loss to Iowa City Regina, 58-55 on Friday night at Regina. With many returning members, the girls have a similar line up to who was played last year, due to only 3 graduating

seniors. There are 4 seniors on the team this year, Zoe Barrett (‘21), Lexi Walker (‘21), Ansley Boorn (‘21), and myself.

Returning varsity starter Ella Caffery (‘22) says that “I think that it will be better than last season and that we should be able to get a few more wins.” She is one of the top scorers on the team and her main goal for this year is to keep up her rebounding and score some points here and there. Her favorite part about basketball is winning games and getting to spend time with her friends.

The next person I interviewed was Zoe Barrett (‘21). Her goal for the season is to work hard and win more games. She thinks that “wearing masks while playing isn’t fun, but it’s important to keep the team and everyone safe. “ The team’s main goal is to improve from last year and to win as many games as possible. Zoe thinks that our season will be better this year than last year and that we’ve come a long way with shooting, rebounding, and pressing. This upcoming week we will have 3 games, including our rivals the Durant Wildcats on Tuesday night at home. Games are Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and if you can’t get a ticket from a player you can always watch the live stream. The girls are looking to improve their game and take home three more wins this week!
