Beavers on the Mat
This year was an exciting turn out for our Wilton wrestling team with six wrestlers making it to state this year. The six wrestlers that made it were Brody Brisker, Garrett Burkle, Keal Brisker, Colton Cruise, Kaden Shirk, and Tyrrell Huges. They had some tough competition this year but all of our wrestlers did well.
State wrestling this year was very exciting with many ups and downs. It was a great experience for all of the Wilton wrestlers that attended the event. “I felt like it was an awesome experience being there as a team,” said Kaden Shirk. State was not only a great experience for the wrestlers but it was also a great experience for everyone watching. “I felt like the team did very well, they went out and dominated the competition. I am very proud of our team,” said Carl Kleppe. The Wilton wrestlers had some great matches and great competition this year as well. “I felt like I had some tough competition this year, the first guy I had to wrestle placed second,” said Kaden. Every wrestler this year had their own goals. “Everyone that we faced had their own goals but we always had better technique, and we always were more conditioned,” said Carl. This year was a great year for the Wilton wrestlers – not only for our state qualifiers but also for every wrestler that went out for the sport. “I felt like this year was a great learning experience and it showed me what I need to work on next year,” said Kaden. Every wrestler this year grew and gained a lot of experience and improved as a result. “I feel this year we should’ve made it to state duals, but all in all we wrestled great and I’m proud of the team,” said Carl.
This year was a great year for the Wilton wrestling team with six wrestlers making it to state. Not only did the team have a lot of people make it to state, but everyone else on the team got better. Not a single wrestler this year stayed the same. everyone improved. It is going to be exciting to see the wrestling team next year and what they accomplish.
